Waltrip Shines in Sogndal Loss

by Greg Seltzer - June 9, 2007

American striker Brian Waltrip scored a spectacular goal and added an assist, but Sogndal eventually succumbed late to Adeccoligaen leaders Ham-Kam by a score of 4-3.

The hosts could have moved level at the top with a win, but a triple rally went in vain when Jan Michaelsen hit the stoppage time winner seconds after the American had made way for a substitute.

Markus Ringberg's 17th minute opener was quickly cancelled out when Håvard Flo turned home a Waltrip feed from 10 meters.

Oluwasegun Abiodun restored Ham-Kam's lead before the break, but just past the hour, the Florida native capped off a mazy run past three defenders with his fourth goal of the season.

Ringberg, then Flo grabbed a second over the day over the final 10 minutes, setting the stage for Michaelsen's heroics.

Sogndal, fifth but two points out of second in Norway's second flight, will travel to Skeid next Saturday.
