Vanney Dealt To DC For Erpen

by Ryan O'Hanlon - June 29, 2007

A day after facing off against each other, DC United and the Colorado Rapids have exchanged defenders Facundo Erpen and Greg Vanney.

Erpen, a 2006 MLS All-Star, joins his second MLS club since coming to DC United from Argentina in 2005.

United will be Vanney's fourth MLS team, after Los Angeles, FC Dallas and the Rapids. He has also played in France's Ligue 1 and has 37 caps with the US National Team.

United technical director Dave Kasper is excited to acquire a veteran of Vanney's ability.

"Greg will provide strong leadership to our back line, and we expect a fast and smooth transition for him into our team." he told MLSNet of the two-time league Best XI choice.

Erpen could debut for Colorado against Chicago on Sunday, while Vanney will have to wait until July 4th to make his debut in the black and white.
