New Zealand were no match for the US Women's National Team on Sunday afternoon as the hosts plowed through their opponents to take a 6-1 win in front of a crowd of 7,015 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Abby Wambach opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a diving header to Cat Whitehill's free kick.

Wambach turned provider in the 33rd minute, sending Kristine Lilly through on goal to score her 125th career goal.

Carli Lloyd made it three in the very next minute with a 38-yard rocket that went into the top left corner off Kiwi keeper Jenny Bindon's hand.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Lloyd put her head to a corner from Stephanie Lopez, but saw the attempt blocked on the line. Lindsay Tarpley was first to the rebound and made it 4-0.

Lloyd added her second three minutes later with a close range header after a free kick cross from Lilly.

The Kiwis pulled one back in the 73rd minute through a penalty kick from Rebecca Smith, but Wambach made her brace in the closing seconds as she deflected a shot from Natasha Kai into the net for the final score.
