The United States Women's National Team defeated Mexico 3-1 in front of 22,280 spectators at a sold out Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez on Sunday.

The US, who also defeated Jamaica 6-0 on Friday, will now face Group B runner-up Costa Rica on Wednesday, with the winner qualifying for the Olympics. The US will face Canada or Mexico in the CONCACAF Qualifying Championship match if they defeat Costa Rica.

In the 13th minute, Carli Lloyd won a challenge at midfield and sent Heather O'Reilly down the right wing. The forward ran towards goal before passing to Natasha Kai, who put the ball into the left corner of the goal from the right side of the box.

Mexico equalized in the 31st minute when Lupita Worbis's fantastic strike from 30 yards out found the upper left corner of the net past Hope Solo.

The US took their lead back before Mexico was even done celebrating. Kate Markgraf sent a long ball to Abby Wambach on the left side. The #20 shirt got by two defenders in the box before eluding keeper Sophia Perez and rolling the ball into the open net.

Kai scored again in the 45th minute to put the US up 3-1. O'Reilly tried to get the ball over Mexico's back line, but defender Natalie Vinti headed it up into the air.

Vinti then slipped and Kai stole in to beat the keeper, who also slipped trying to close down. Kai rolled it into the goal from nine yards out for her 12th career goal for the US.

Mexican keeper Perez made nice saves to keep the US from extending their lead in the second half, but her teammates could not reduce the deficit further.

"It's great for team," Women of the Match Kai told reporters. "It gives us confidence going into our next match. The crowd was huge today. I don't think I've ever played in front of a crowd like that, but I think it pumped us up too."
