Neither team had allowed a goal in their group games, but that changed in the 14th minute when Natasha Kai put one past Denmark keeper Heidi Johansen. Carli Lloyd's corner found the attacker outside the six-yard box and she headed it through the keeper's legs to put the US up 1-0.

But the Lady 'Nats then allowed their first goal of the tournament in the 30th minute as Cathrine Sorensen put it in the net from close range.

Mia Olsen almost put Norway up minutes later, but her shot went over the bar.

The US went ahead to stay on their first shot of the second half. Kai crossed the ball to Abby Wambach's, who got past a defender to put it in the goal.

The Americans were able to hold on thanks to good play in the defense. Lori Chalupny made two important clearances for the US late in the match.

Tobin Heath came close to putting the US up by two in the 64th minute, but her shot hit the post. Angela Hucles tried to score off the rebound, but the volley was too difficult to put in.

The US has now won the Cup six times since 2000; the only years they did not were 2001 and 2002. The Red, White & Blue scored 12 goals in the tournament, from seven different women.

The USWNT now holds a 100% record through seven 2008 games. They will now take a break before traveling to Carson, California to prepare for the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico from April 2nd to 12th. The US will open against Jamaica.
