▪ USMNT Gets Swede Revenge

A Shannon Boxx strike 13 minutes from time was enough to see the US Women's National Team past hosts China 1-0 on Sunday, giving the Americans their fifth Four Nations Tournament trophy.

Needing only a draw to win the tourney, the Lady 'Nats were forced to squash the first opportunity for China in the 13th minute. Hope Solo made a good stop after Han Duan had wiggled into the area.

The US threatened just past the half hour, but Boxx experienced a near miss when presented with a yawning net from a deflected Heather O'Reilly cross.

Carli Lloyd came close in the 49th minute when China keeper Zhang Yanru forced her long drive onto the crossbar.

After Tournament MVP O'Reilly missed on a couple of chances, the Americans finally broke through in the 77th minute. Boxx was able to guide a header home from Becky Sauerbrunn's return cross at the end of a cleared free kick.

Tournament honors were also handed out to Top Scorer Lindsay Tarpley and Best Coach Pia Sundhage, and the team received the Fair Play Award thanks to three games without a single yellow card.
