Tarpley scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute. Lloyd received the ball from Wambach and put in an excellent pass to Tarpley inside the penalty box. Her left-footed shot from 10 yards out found the lower right corner of the net.

The US controlled the game throughout the first half and almost went up 2-0 but Chinese keeper Zhang Yanru saved an attempt from Heather O'Reilly.

In only her third appearance, Heath struck in the 47th minute to put the yanks ahead 2-0. The 19-year old, subbed in at the start of the second half, got past a defender before lifting the ball over a diving Zhang.

Wambach scored the third goal of the match off of a corner in the 64th minute. Lloyd's corner kick found Shannon Boxx, who then gave a short pass to Wambach. The striker's left-footed shot from seven yards out found the back of the net for her 87th career National Team goal.

Lloyd then put the US up four only five minutes later after receiving the ball from Natasha Kai about 30 yards from goal. The midfielder then got past two defenders and blasted the ball across the goal into the left corner from 13 yards out for the 11th tally of her career.

Heath had two great chances in the last five minutes of the game, but was not able to capitalize on them. She put one of the crossbar in the 85th minute and put another just past the post in the 90th.

Kate Markgraf, who injured her ankle in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup semifinal, made her return today by playing the first half though. Rachel Buehler played all 90 minutes at right back to complete her first full cap for the team, while goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart earned a shutout in her fifth cap.

The US has scored 13 goals in their first four matches in 2008, their best offensive start since 2000. On Friday, they face an Italy team coming off a 4-2 loss to Norway.
