Bob Bradley's Stars and Stripes will face the hosts of both the 2009 Confederations Cup - for which the team has already qualified by way of its 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup title - and 2010 World Cup.

The November 17th match is set for broadcast in the US on both Fox Soccer Channel and Galavision, with kickoff slated for 9:00 am ET, and comes as part of the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup, a yearly fixture started in 1994 that has previously attracted the likes of Holland and Brazil.

The match will be the first meeting between the two sides on South African soil as the Bradley's side looks to test itself on challenging environments in preparation for the 2010 World Cup qualification process.

It has been a breakout year for US youth international Altidore, who netted four goals in last summer's FIFA Under-20 World Cup and chimed in with another nine MLS goals for the Red Bulls, forming a promising partnership with former Aston Villa forward Juan Pablo Angel.

He follows a similar transition from Thomas Rongen's Under-20 setup to that of senior team head coach Bradley, already enjoyed by Heerenveen midfielder Michael Bradley, Benfica star Freddy Adu, Hannover 96 winger Sal Zizzo and Danny Szetela of Racing Santander.

Joining the young prodigy is an inexperienced foursome, still fresh off their debuts, in Adu, MLS Rookie of the Year Maurice Edu, Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan and keeper Brad Guzan.

Experience is drawn from a number of usual fixtures, with representation from five Americans playing abroad in the English Premier League, including Everton keeper Tim Howard, stand-in Fulham captain Carlos Bocanegra and fellow Cottager Clint Dempsey, as well as Derby County duo Eddie Lewis and Benny Feilhaber.

South Africa promises to be no pushover, with lethal Blackburn Rovers hit man Benny McCarthy named to coach Carlos Alberto Parreira's squad, alongside a contingent of German Bundesliga players, such as keeper Rowen Fernandez, Delron Buckley, Siyabonga Nkosi and Everton attacker Steven Pienaar, on loan from parent club Borussia Dortmund.

The Americans have won just once in their past six international fixtures since donning the Gold Cup crown, but will be boosted by a last gasp away win over Switzerland last month, their first win on European soil since a 1-0 win over Poland in Kaiserslautern in March 2006.
