The US National Team will take on South American giants Argentina at Giants Stadium on June 8th (7:30 pm ET on ESPN Classic and Galavision) as final preparation for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

The #1 team in the FIFA World Rankings will provide solid opposition for a US team soon to embark in search of a sixth consecutive World Cup finals appearance, following friendlies in Europe against England and Spain.

"Argentina is clearly one of the best teams in the world and playing against an opponent of that caliber is a great opportunity for our team," said US coach Bob Bradley.

Combined with the matches against England and Spain, we have put together a very good schedule to help us prepare for World Cup qualifying."

Seven days after welcoming the Argentineans to the Meadowlands, the US tackles Barbados at the Home Depot Center in the first leg of the second round of CONCACAF qualifiers, with the rematch taking place in Barbados on June 21st.

The US, ranked 28th in the latest rankings, are 2-6 overall against the Albiceleste.

The States won 1-0 with a Joe-Max Moore goal in a friendly at RFK Stadium in 1999, but most famously defeated Argentina 3-0 in the group stage of the 1995 Copa America, when Frank Klopas, Alexi Lalas and Eric Wynalda were on target.

The nations last met in last summer's Copa América in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The South Americans triumphed 4-1 with goals from Pablo Aimar, Carlos Tévez and two from Hernan Crespo. Eddie Johnson replied for the States.
