Charles Kazlauskas saw red as TOP Oss fell short of a period title by dropping a 3-1 home decision to ADO Den Haag on Friday night.

The visitors broke open a tie game with a pair of Hans van de Haar spot kicks in the final 30 minutes. Even had they won, TOP could not have grabbed the available promotion playoff berth as period leaders RKC Waalwijk scored a clinching 4-1 win at FC Eindhoven.

TOP had the first chance of the night when Revy Rosalia elegantly took down a Leon van Dalen long ball, only to fire clumsily over the frame.

The Hague crew took the lead near the half hour as Wesley Verhoek squared for forward wandering defender Daryl Janmaat to side-foot his first goal for the club from 18 meters.

Kazlauskas was robbed of an equalizer soon thereafter as ADO keeper Stefan Postma recovered to keep his close range header from Wouter van den Herik's cross out of the net.

Shortly after Verhoek opened the second half by ringing the TOP post, Rosalia crashed home Bart van Hintum's restart from the left flank to level matters.

Just before the hour, Van de Haar was set up for the winning spot kick by a highly questionable call on Dirk Schoofs at the far corner of the area and the veteran made no mistake.

Moments later, Kazlauskas took a foolish second yellow card and early shower for stamping Roel Stoffels when the ADO defender booting away the ball after fouling the American.

Van de Haar was given his second chance from the penalty spot when TOP keeper Wilko de Vogt performed an admirable NFL leg tackle on the forward while stranded out of his net, and the #16 shirt dutifully piled on the insurance tally.
