Having struggled for much of the 2007/08 season, winning just two of 15 league contests, Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam is staying receptive to new options in the quest for a spark by testing out collegiate striker Etchu Tabe on a week-long trial.

While currently on trial at Sparta, the 19-year old striker spent last week on display at Swedish Superettan side IF Brommapojkarna. However, the jump from college play to the professional realm is one to be made in earnest, and accordingly, Tabe is staking his footing one step at a time.

"He's over there for a week, and was on trial in Sweden last week," Heather MacKenzie, president of MLF Sports, Tabe's management group, confirmed to American Soccer Daily.

The link between rural Georgia and the lights of Rotterdam might not be easily drawn, and MacKenzie admits that arranging the stint 'was pretty spontaneous'. "We had a stopover in Amsterdam, so we thought we'd try getting him out there," she stated.

The Cameroon-born US citizen became a standout at NCAA Division II school Georgia Southwestern State University, bagging 10 goals and six assists for a total of 26 points in the 2006 season, in spite of his team having posted an 0-7 conference record. For his efforts, the young American was granted All Conference honors by the Peach Belt Conference.

The forward had previously spent time at Brewton Parker College, notching a goal and assist in 13 games.
