Despite reports to the contrary, Shep Messing says Columbus Crew midfielder Danny Szetela has not completed a deal to join AS Roma when his MLS contract runs out at season's end.

The former New York Cosmos star - head of the agency that represents the Under-20 World Cup standout - claims all interested parties are still in for the midfielder's signature.

"We're in discussions with Roma, but nothing's agreed," Messing told Associated Press on Wednesday. "We're also in discussions with MLS. I don't know where they're connecting the dots."

Szetela, who nearly signed with Everton before choosing MLS three years ago, has been chased by several European clubs since the U-20 World Cup, including the Toffees, Celtic, Hertha Berlin, Parma and Rangers.

Messing also hinted to the Columbus Dispatch that the youngster would play out his Crew deal as opposed to leaving before the August 31st transfer window, asserting: "(Szetela) wants to finish the season and help Columbus go as far as it can."
