DAVIES START CAN'T SPARK HAMMARBY
A toothless Hammarby came up empty at Söderstadion against Halmstads BK when they fell 1-0 on Sunday evening.

Charlie Davies got a rare start up top and went the distance as Petter Andersson was suspended. However, Davies and Bajen struggled to produce much offense as hardly had a chance throughout the game.

Bajen's grueling schedule of late certainly showed on Sunday night as chances were at a minimum for a team that usually dominates at their home arena.

In the 10th minute, Davies had his lone attempt of the night, but his effort missed the target.

Halmstads took the lead in the 55th minute when Tomas Zvirgzdauskas rose highest in the box and met a Martin Fribrock free kick; his flick header found its way past Benny Lekström.

Hammarby head coach Tony Gustavsson showed faith in Davies when he sent on forward Alagie Sosseh in the 66th minute for Paulinho Guara instead of the young American.

Bajen's best chance of the night came in the closing stages of the game when Davies won the ball in a scramble near the top of the box and found winger Haris Laitinen, whose hard drive from outside the area was beat away by Magnus Bahne.

The home defeat leaves a deflated Bajen in ninth place in the 14-team Swedish top flight. Next up for Hammarby is a Saturday match-up with Stockholm club Brommapojkarna who are fighting a relegation battle.

Davies will make the short trip to the west coast to meet up with the USMNT for their Wednesday friendly against Sweden in Gothenburg.

DERBY DRAW FOR SIRIUS
Tighe Dombrowski's IK Sirius notched a late equalizer to earn a 3-3 draw with their rivals Enköpings SK on an Saturday night.

Dombrowski went the distance at left back for his second division club, but his third yellow card of the season and the accompanying suspension will break his iron man streak of having played every minute of the season thus far.

Enköping jumped out to an early lead when Eric Hammar was left completely unmarked in the area and headed home a corner kick in the 11th minute.

Sirius continued their new-found bad habit of turning the ball over at poor times when star forward Daniel Hoch back heeled a ball to nobody in the middle of the field. ESK's midfielder Sebastian Rajalakso jumped on the loose ball and thread a simple pass through to a streaking Anders Lindberg who made no mistake on the break away.

In the 29th minute, captain Gustaf Segerström hit back for ISK when he headed home a perfectly placed Pierre Gallo free kick. The tall captain notched the equalizer and his second of the night in the opening moments of the second half when he rose highest to head home a corner kick.

Sirius gave the momentum back to Enköping directly afterwards when another needless midfield give away presented Lindberg with another breakaway opportunity. The Enköping forward was just as cool as earlier and elegantly rounded Rytterbro to roll home the ball for the 3-2 lead.

In the 70th minute, Dombrowski was awarded his third yellow of the season, which results in an automatic suspension for the upcoming game. However, the American can take solace in his punishment, as his late tackle on a breaking Enköpings player could just as easily have been a sending off.

Sirius refused to give up and captain Segerström was again behind another Sirius goal. With five minutes remaining of regular time, Segerström rose highest on another set piece and his redirected header allowed Jonas Lundmark to give in and give the hosts a share of the spoils.

IKS travel next Monday to take on IF Sylvia without second leading scoring Dombrowski hoping to get back on track after going without a win in their last four contests.
