BAJEN VICTORS IN 7-GOAL SHOOTOUT
Hammarby rode a Paulinho Guará hat trick to a 4-3 victory over Gefle after a rollercoaster first half that featured six goals between the two sides. Charlie Davies made an 85th minute substitute appearance when he came on for goal scoring hero Guará.

Saturday's game began slowly for such a high-scoring affair, with the first 20 minutes devoid of much action or chances. Bajen made their first mark on the game when David Johansson broke free down the right and crossed to Guará, who powered a header on goal that was blocked but not held by Mattias Hugosson, allowing the Brazilian to force his rebound over the line.

Guará's goal was the first goal of a 20-minute span that would feature five more goals between the two teams. Hammarby's joy was short-lived as Johan Oremo volleyed in the equalizer, which was quickly followed by a goal from his forward partner Daniel Westlin, who cut in from the wing and found the inside of Erland Hellström's far post.

Bajen hit back again through Guará when the #19 shirt won a foot race to get onto the end of a Petter Andersson pass and fire clinically past Hugosson. Andersson got himself on the scoresheet three minutes later when Sebastian Eguren backheeled a genius pass right into the forward's path, allowing him to roll the ball into the side netting. The chaotic first half fittingly ended a goal during the final kick as Westlin notched his second of the night after passive defending from Hammarby's defenders.

The second stanza featured less attacking verve and was more of a tactical battle as both teams struggled to keep up the frantic pace of the opening 45 minutes.

The game winner for Hammarby came in the 73rd minute after more good work between forward partners Guará and Andersson. A give-and-go between the Brazilian and his partner left the red-hot forward alone on goal and the outcome was obvious, and the scoreline was 4-3 to the hosts.

Davies made his appearance in place of Guará with five minutes plus extra time remaining and did well to inspire the Bajen fans to chant his name after he smartly managed some time wasting when he was alone against several Gefle defenders on a counterattack.

Hammarby remains entrenched in the middle of the table with six games left ahead of Thursday's UEFA cup clash with Portuguese side Braga. Davies may find himself in the starting line-up for next week's league clash against Elfsborg as Guará's goal scoring celebration earned him a suspension-clinching booking for his "Jesus" t-shirt he proudly showed the Söderstadion crowd.

SIRIUS SECURE SUPERETTAN DIVISION
IK Sirius secured their place in the Swedish second flight with a classy 4-0 romp over struggling Falkenbergs FF at Studenternas on Monday evening. Tighe Dombrowski took his usual place at left back and helped anchor a Sirius defense completely snuffed out Falkenbergs attack.

Daniel Hoch opened the scoring for the hosts in the 30th minute with a stunning 35-meter strike. Hoch received a pass from Pierre Gallo near midfield and advanced a few steps before lobbing a long range strike over Falkenbergs stranded keeper that bounced off the crossbar and in.

Sirius dominated both possession and chances thanks mainly to the classy trio of Hoch, Gallo and Andreas Eriksson who were a headache for Falkenbergs defenders. Just when it looked like Sirius would run out the clock and bag a 1-0 victory they erupted for three goals in the closing five minutes.

The first man to get his name on the sheet was classy midfielder Eriksson, who buried a clinical effort in the lower corner after he freed himself with a slick one-two with Gallo and an even better step over move left his markers in the dust.

Two classy lobs from Antou Jallow and Gallo in the 90th and 93rd minutes rounded out the scoring for the hosts. The win puts Sirius in fifth place ahead of their Thursday visit to Landskrona BoIS.
