DAVIES OPENS HIS ACCOUNT
Charlie Davies scored his first goal and added an assist to pace Hammarby to a 5-3 victory over newly promoted GIF Sundsvall.

The American worked 85 minutes and impressed with speed and work rate that gave Sundsvall problems all night.

Petter Andersson opened the scoring for Bajen when he burst through a static Sundsvall defense and fired an angled shot inside the far post.

The visitors equalized only minutes later thanks to an amateurish clearance from David Johansson, who gifted Hannes Sigurdsson with a simple finish inside the box.

Sundsvall took the lead 30 minutes in with a spectacular goal from Stefan Ålander, who chipped Rami Shaaban from just inside the midfield line.

Just before halftime, Bajen were level thanks to some good work from Davies. The American jinked his way past defenders on the left side of the box and put in a cross that Erkan Zengin was able to finish.

Paulinho put Hammarby in front in the 58th minute when he showed his predatory instincts to get on the end of a Louay Chanko cross.

Haris Laitinen extended the lead in the 80th with a long distance shot that appeared to slip through the hands of Fredrik Sundsfors.

Davies put the nail in the coffin in the 86th minute when he raced onto a long pass from Christian Traore, showing good poise and control to round the keeper and remaining defender before blasting into the net.

Sundsvall added a late consolation goal, but Hammarby will be pleased to have started the season with two straight victories ahead of Thursday's trip to face GAIS in Gothenburg.

LJUNGSKILE DROP SECOND STRAIGHT
Etchue Tabe got his first start in the Allsvenskan and worked 61 minutes, while Colin Burns was again relegated to the bench, as Ljungskile lost at Kalmar FF 3-1 on Monday.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 36th minute after Marcus Lindberg swung in a perfect cross that was met by a leaping Viktor Elm, who buried his header past a chanceless Michal Slawuta.

Rasmus Elm extended the lead for the hosts in the 59th minute when he received a pass from his brother and had time to hit a piledriver past a helpless Slawuta.

Ljungskile fought back and Aleksander Kitich scored LSK's first goal of the season when he was able to get on the end of a Niklas Löfgren cross from the right flank.

Just minutes later, Kalmar gave themselves some breathing room when Brazilian striker Cesar Santin was dragged down in the box, and coolly placed the penalty to Slawuta's left to wrap up the scoring.

Ljungskile host Henrik Larsson and Helsingborg on Thursday night as they search for the first league win.
