Alan Gordon scored two goals, and Landon Donovan added a goal and three assists, as the Los Angeles Galaxy outlasted FC Dallas 6-5 in a wild SuperLiga match-up on Tuesday night.

The Galaxy has struggled to score this season, but not this time as they booked a place in the semifinals with stunning accuracy.

Los Angeles, once again playing without David Beckham - as well as Cobi Jones, Kyle Martino and Chris Albright - built a 4-0 lead in the first 18 minutes.

In just the third minute, Donovan found Gordon unmarked for a header inside the top corner. In the 12th, Chris Klein scored on a counter attack, then three minutes later, Gordon hit again with another well-placed header.

Kevin Harmse tallied in 18th minute to secure a seemingly safe 4-0 lead, but FCD would close the gap. Arturo Alvarez put FC Dallas on the board with a header from Drew Moor's cross just before halftime.

Juan Carlos Toja broke through in the 78th minute with a score, and Alvarez added his second goal with a low drive off the post four minutes later.

Donovan felt he had put the game away by splitting the middle of the FC Dallas defense and scoring unassisted on a one-on-one with goalkeeper Dario Sala.
