Simek Seals Three-Year Deal

Despite offseason interest from the likes of Everton and Portsmouth, US right back Frank Simek has singed a new three-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Missouri native has tallied 89 first team appearances with Wednesday, reaching a high point last season in having his club play validated by a roster spot for the US National Team that competed in the Gold Cup.

"I'm just really happy that it was sorted out before the season," Simek exclaimed to American Soccer Daily.

The Owls defender told the official club website, "I'm thrilled. We've been talking for quite a while, and I am happy to commit myself for another three years. I know this club is going in the right direction."

The deal is slated to keep him tied to the Owls through the 2010 season, and comes in spite of rumored interest from a host of Premiership club.

After completing a preseason tour of the Netherlands, next on the agenda for Simek and Sheffield Wednesday is a trip to Vale Park on Saturday before they open the Coca-Cola Championship season on August 4th, away to Birmingham.
