Red Bulls Lasso Quaranta

The Los Angeles Galaxy have dealt right-side attacker Santino Quaranta to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a conditional fourth round pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.

Having recently acquired midfielder Chris Klein, the Galaxy felt that Quaranta became expendable and the trade will alleviate some of Alexi Lalas' salary cap pressure.

The 22-year old Quaranta, who has 11 caps for the US National Team, joins his third team in the past two seasons.

He bagged a winner in his first Galaxy appearance last season, but it was all downhill from there.

The former DC United phenom was expected to be shipped out to Kansas City earlier in the week, but instead joins a stable of Red, White & Blue internationals that includes Clint Mathis and Claudio Reyna under Bruce Arena's management.

The second place Red Bulls, who also have several capped foreign players, could decide to add yet another former 'Nat in Tony Sanneh.

The 36-year old has been working out with the team for a few weeks now, and is hoping to receive a contract offer after New York released two defenders this week.
