Vålerenga Agrees Perkins Fee

by Greg Seltzer - December 12, 2007

The agent for DC United keeper Troy Perkins reports that personal terms are now the only thing standing between his client and a move to five-time Norwegian champions Vålerenga.

If all goes according to plan, the 2006 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year could be presented by the Bohemians in the next several days.

"We are confident that we will reach a deal with the club," Patrick McCabe told American Soccer Daily.

"The transfer fee has been agreed and we are close to wrapping up details on Troy's contract. We expect he will travel to Oslo for a medical next week."

On Wednesday, United cleared the path for Perkins' departure by dealing defender Bobby Boswell to Houston for veteran netminder Zach Wells.

Vålerenga, who finished sixth in the Eliteserien in 2007, have a roster headlined by erstwhile Brann captain Martin Andresen, handyman extraordinaire Freddy dos Santos, Norway strike prodigy Daniel Fredhiem Holm and former Manchester United defender Ronny Johnsen.
