Núñez Traded to Chivas USA

Irate over his lack of playing time with the club, FC Dallas attacker Ramón Núñez may soon get his requested trade away from Pizza Hut Park.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas has agreed to trade Núñez to Chivas USA in exchange for a conditional draft pick. The deal is pending league approval, but could be finalized later Wednesday.

The 21-year old was the sixth overall pick in the 2004 SuperDraft and worked his way into FCD's starting line-up in 2005. The Honduras attacking midfielder started 10 of the club's first 11 matches in 2007, tallying three goals and two assists.

As playing time diminished in recent weeks, Núñez became unhappy and went public with his demand for a trade when he was left off the 18-man roster for the Hoops' July 24th SuperLiga match.

Chivas USA has been in the market for an attacking midfielder since another Honduran, Amado Guevara, went AWOL after learning of his imminent trade to Toronto FC. Dallas was rumored to be interested in his services, but Guevara chose to return home to join CD Motagua instead.

UPDATE: Núñez was swapped to the Goats on Wednesday for a 2009 SuperDraft third round selection that will be bumped up to a first rounder should the attacker start at least 15 games next season.
