Adin Brown helped AaFK upset champions Brann, Cameron Weaver started his season off with a goal in Haugesund's win and Joe Lapira made his Norwegian debut in a Nybergsund loss to Clarence Goodson's IK Start.

AAFK HUMBLES THE CHAMPS
Adin Brown and Aalesund FK opened their Eliteserien account with a surprising 4-2 triumph over visiting holders Brann on Sunday.

The American netminder helped his side build a 1-0 lead on Diego Silva's goal. The Bear made two top shelf saves in the period, rejecting both Jan Gunnar Solli and Petter Vaagan Moen on free kicks.

A Jonathan Parr own goal before the break leveled matters, but Tor Hogne Aarøy and Amund Skiri connected four minutes apart just out of intermission to key the win.

US international Pat Noonan remains in wait for his AaFK debut, which could come as soon as next Sunday's trip to Viking.

WALTRIP MAKES MOLDE DEBUT IN FFK LOSS
Brian Waltrip came on to work the final quarter hour, but could not help Molde FK conjure a late equalizer in Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Fredrikstad.

Brian West did not feature for the victors, who profited from a pair of second half Tarik Elyounoussi strikes sandwiched around a Magne Hoset spot kick for Molde.

Seconds after coming on, Waltrip was greeted with a rash Abgar Barsom tackle that drew red from the referee. Despite the man advantage, Molde succumbed with seven minutes left to the second goal from Elyounoussi, who capitalized on some sloppy keeping by Jan Kjell Larsen.

FFK now head to Rosenborg on Saturday, while winless Molde host Tromsø on Sunday.

BOHEMIANS BLANKED AT TROMSØ
Home side Tromsø brought Vålerenga back to Earth after an opening win, posting a 2-0 decision over Troy Perkins and the rest of the Pride of Oslo.

The former DC United keeper made several stops to keep the game scoreless, including a highlight reel job on Sigurd Rushfeldt in the 35th minute.

He would, however, be no match for the striker's 68th minute penalty conversion and Tommy Knarvik added an insurance marker near time.

Vålerenga will dust themselves off to visit Lillestrøm next Sunday.

GOODSON HELPS START OPEN WITH ROUT
IK Start backline recruit Clarence Goodson made his Adeccoligaen debut in a season opening 5-2 blasting of promoted Nybergsund, who handed American attacker Joe Lapira his first overseas action.

The home side got the party started right with a pair of goals from Bernt Hulsker inside the opening 13 minutes.

Håvard Storbæk struck just after the break to close the gap, and Lapira - who went the first 81 minutes in defeat - almost doubled minutes later when a cheeky chip from 30 meters cleared the bar.

Start got the rout back on track with goals from Lars Martin Engedal, Aram Khalili and Christer Kleiven between minutes 57 and 70. Ninety-minute man Goodson - who publicly declared his new team title seekers on Thursday - nearly made it six with an 88th minute corner kick header, but the damage was already done.

Immediate leaders Start now head to Hønefoss next Sunday, the same day Nybergsund hosts Bryne.

FKH BUILD EASY WIN FROM WEAVER GOAL

Cameron Weaver scored his team's first goal of the season, and they went on to soundly defeat visiting Notodden 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

The American, who went all 90, broke the ice with a thumping corner kick header on 14 minutes. Weaver had two other chances in the first half, the latter nodded just over from a Chris Gbandi cross.

After the pause, Dag Roar Ørsal piled on a pair four minutes apart, relegating Christer Fjellstad's late goal to mere consolation.

With a later Weaver penalty claim denied, Haugesund closed the win to head to Sogndal next Sunday in third place.

VERIS HELPS HØDD START RIGHT
Former LA Galaxy defender Kyle Veris worked the full route as IL Hødd kicked off their Adeccoligaen slate with a 2-0 win over Sparta Sarpsborg.

The Washington DC native went close with an early corner kick header, and then stood tall as the hosts battened down the hatches during a late Sparta flurry.

The contest was not settled until Rogvi Jacobsen connected in the 77th minute, with Joachim Magnussen adding a little late gloss.

Fourth place Hødd will now hit the road to face Moss next Sunday.
