▪ 4-Star Standard Claim Summit

Heerenveen allowed a lead to slip far, far away at Ajax, while Charles Kazlauskas and TOP remained winless on the term at home to a lucky Veendam.

AJAX STORM PAST HEERENVEEN
Luis Suarez keyed a home comeback with two goals as first place Ajax rallied for a 4-1 victory over visiting Heerenveen on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts came close in the second minute, but Hedwiges Maduro rang the Heerenveen post. Ajax continued pressuring heavily, but it was the Frisians who would open the scoring against the run of play.

After Maduro tested Brian Vandenbussche, Miralem Sulejmani latched on to a long outlet from his keeper and beat Maarten Stekelenburg in the 27th minute.

The goal did not stop Ajax, however, as Luis Suárez buried a Kennedy Bakircioglü corner kick a minute before the break.

Heerenveen were unable to make it into half time on level terms as Thomas Vermaelen nodded home a Bakircioglü free kick seconds later.

Ajax stretched their lead seven minutes out of intermission as substitute Robbert Schilder blasted his first goal for the Amsterdam club.

Five minutes later, Suárez closed the score sheet by collecting an over-hit Bakircioglü corner serve, settling and volleying into the far corner in one elegant motion.

Heerenveen were unable to reduce the deficit, with Roy Beerens watching their best chance saved by a diving Stekelenburg.

TOP LOSE GRIP IN SHORT SPAN
A pair of Veendam goals inside of four early second half minutes sent hosts TOP Oss to their first loss of the season on Friday night.

Charles Kazlauskas went his typical 90-minutes at right back, and helped the men from Oss comfortably control the opening period.

Eric Quekel broke the ice with a fine individual effort midway through the half, but the hosts would come undone in a short span after the break.

Mark Veldmate set up Heerenveen loan item Age Hains Boersma for the leveler on 49 minutes, then fired the winner himself three minutes later.

TOP came agonizingly close to a late equalizer on several occasions, but to no avail. First, Guillermo Zschüsschen whistled a free kick just past the post, with fellow sub Dimitri Djollo having a goal waved off by the linesman's flag shortly thereafter.

Finally, Veendam keeper Barry Ditewig tipped over a Revy Rosalia try to preserve the away win.
