FRISIANS STROLL PAST AZ
Heerenveen got well in a hurry against visiting AZ Alkmaar on Saturday night, ringing up a 4-0 victory to halt a four-match winless slide.

Michael Bradley went the distance as the playmaker in a 4-4-2, notching a goal and an assist.

The Frisians started the party early when Milano Koenders handled in the area and Danijel Pranjić banked the 3rd minute spot kick that came as a result.

The home side could have had more quickly, with Michel Breuer and Pranjić each finding the woodwork.

In the 21st minute, Jakob Poulsen raided the area to finish a deflected centering feed for the 2-0.

Miralem Sulejmani made it three six minutes before the break, running onto a shrewd Bradley lead pass to fire home.

With AZ properly shackled on the night, the US international then closed the scoring by nodding in a Poulsen cross from close range in the 56th minute.

With the win, Heerenveen rise to fifth with VVV Venlo coming to town on Wednesday.

DRAW NOT ENOUGH FOR TOP
TOP Oss replied quickly in the last minute to earn a 1-1 draw at Stormvogels Telstar on Friday night, but it was not enough to land the team on top of the period table.

Charles Kazlauskas worked his 90 minutes on the right side of midfield for the second straight game, and nearly put the visitors ahead in the early going.

After Jan Bruin tested TOP keeper Wilko de Vogt at one end, the American collected a diagonal ball to belt a shot off the crossbar. Eric van Quekel had free space to bury the rebound, only to screw his shot well wide.

Shortly thereafter, De Vogt had to scramble to keep out a Geoffrey Meye restart header and Jordy van Wijk curled onto the post after beating a trap.

Telstar kept coming, and De Vogt pulled off a fine reaction save on Marian Willemsen's low drive.

Near halftime, TOP skipper Dirk Schoofs missed a golden chance to kiss home a deflected free kick at the far post, putting his attempt over from the doorstep.

After the break, some sloppy defending by Meye handed Quekel a fast breakaway, but he capitulated and was dispossessed by the recovering back.

With just a minute left, the hosts appeared to put their claim on the promotion playoff berth up for grabs when Melvin Holwijn gathered a loose ball at the top of the area to fire home the 1-0.

However, Erik van der Ven sailed in a majestic long free kick near time to put Telstar's celebration on ice.

TOP will begin a new period chase next Sunday at Den Bosch.
