FRISIANS GET WELL IN ROTTERDAM
Michael Bradley starred as Heerenveen scored their first win of the Eredivisie campaign by storming past Saturday night hosts Excelsior.

The US international picked up a pair of assists to help his team equalize from an early two-goal deficit and netted his first Eredivisie goal to cap the rout. Bradley also picked up a second half yellow card for his troubles.

Former ADO Den Haag striker Geert den Ouden put the hosts ahead on 20 minutes, then after Gerald Sibon squandered a Bradley-made chance in alone, added a second tapper eight minutes on.

It would be the end of Excelsior's highlight reel, however, as Miralem Sulejmani accepted a Bradley lead pass to rifle home six minutes before intermission.

Sibon evened the score on the edge of halftime after working a combination with the young American, but Heerenveen weren't letting their hosts into the locker room that easy. Sulejmani sent Gianni Zuiverloon running free, and the Oranje Under-21 wingback coolly finished his breakaway to put the Frisians up to stay.

Shortly after the interval, Sibon capitalized on an Excelsior backline snafu to bury a cross from halftime sub Roy Beerens and Bradley finished the scoring in the 54th minute with a blast after running free with a Danijel Pranjic pass.

Heerenveen will now host Swedish side Helsingborgs in Thursday's UEFA Cup first round opener before returning to the league grind by welcoming FC Utrecht on Sunday.

TOP BOOK FIRST WIN OF SEASON
Charles Kazlauskas and TOP Oss climbed out of the Jupiler League cellar on the strength of their season duck breaker, a 1-0 home win over Stormvogels Telstar on Friday night.

The American went his typical 90 minutes at right back for Hans de Koning's men.

Telstar had the first golden chance of the game when Leon van Dalen mistimed his jump on a deep cross, but Jan Bruin fired over from the top of the area.

The men from Oss grabbed the only goal they would need just past the quarter hour. Geoffrey Meye shoved Davy Zafarin as he entered the area, then fell on the ball and wrapped his hands around it looking for a call in his favor. Instead, whistle blower Danny Makkelie awarded a spot kick, which Dirk Schoofs easily banked.

Jordy van Wijk had two prime chances to level for the visitors, but found his path blocked by Van Dalen each time.

Revy Rosalia nearly doubled TOP's advantage midway through the second half, but rifled wide from 15 meters after neatly chesting down a lobbed Zafarin entry feed.

Rosalia then appeared to have found net by dunking in a bullet corner kick header off the crossbar, but Wouter van den Herik was called for a foul on the keeper on the play.

After Eric Quekel was robbed by Telstar keeper Job Bulters, Erik van de Ven went very close with a cheeky 40-meter lob ringing the bar.

The woodwork would come into play once more as Raymond Fafiani's seeing eye bid for a late leveler bounced away off the far post.

TOP return to work quickly with a Monday night visit to MVV Maastricht.
