Nguyen was a standout at Indiana University before heading to Dutch powerhouse PSV Eindhoven in 2005. The 21-year old was hampered by a couple of injuries at PSV, which generally saw his playing time reduced to appearances for the reserve team.

The winger has signed a contract through the end of next season. Per PSV policy, the transfer fee was not disclosed.

"I would like to play first team football, and when the opportunity from Randers FC arose, I had no doubts," read a Nguyen statement.

"I had a great trial spell in Randers FC playing alongside some excellent footballers and an excellent coaching staff. I am really looking forward to continue my career at Randers FC."

John is a former US youth international who appeared with Nguyen for the United States in the 2005 Under-20 World Cup in the Netherlands. The 22-year old was drafted by the Chicago Fire in 2005 before being sent to his hometown Kansas City Wizards in 2006.

"I have been in Randers FC for a 10-day trial and what I have seen so far has impressed a great deal, both on and off the pitch," said John.

"I'm very pleased, that the club has offered me this contract. I like the way the Danes play attacking football based on their technical skills."

The Americans could make their debut for Randers on March 16th when the club opens league play at Brøndby.
