Nguyen Glad to Be Back

With his ankle nag now a thing of the past, Young PSV Eindhoven ace Lee Nguyen admits that he is very happy to get back in the game.

Though he came up empty in Monday's 4-1 Beloften Cup win over Young Stormvogels Telstar, the American attacker has a goal and an assist in the last two reserve league games.

"The ankle is feeling fine now, so no trouble with it," Nguyen told American Soccer Daily. "I'm glad to be back playing. It's never fun to watch from the sidelines and want to play so bad, but you can't."

The PSV manager situation is in flux until next season when Huub Stevens arrives from Hamburg to take the reins; Jan Wouters replaced the departed Ronald Koeman in October and Sef Vergoossen will run the show from January to May.

Although stateside fans had hoped the departure of Koeman - who generally prefers veteran players - would give Nguyen a chance to break into the line-up, Wouters has not directly addressed the matter.

"He hasn't talked to me at all about any of that," said the US international.

The next opportunity for Nguyen to dazzle the technical staff comes when Young AZ Alkmaar visit De Herdgang on Monday.
