Major League Soccer made amendments to its rules earlier this week. The biggest change is the addition of an extra international roster slot. Each team will now be allowed to have eight international players on its roster.

Furthermore, MLS teams will be able to trade international slots to other teams. Conceivably, a team could now trade for enough international slots that its whole roster could be international players.

The 2008 CONCACAF Champions Cup bracket has been drawn. MLS Cup Champions Houston Dynamo will play Municipal in the first round, while DC United will open with Jamaican club Harbour Town. The tournament is set to begin the week of March 10th.

Mexico forward Jared Borgetti is interested in a move to MLS. The Cruz Azul forward has previously rejected moves to Russia and the Ukraine, but is considering the possibility to join either the Colorado Rapids or the Kansas City Wizards.

"We have already talked to Kansas and Colorado, looking at what possibilities we have. Anyway, I won't pick up the first offer that appears. I will try to stay on in Mexican football," Borgetti told TeamTalk.

FC Dallas head coach Steve Morrow was recently on a scouting trip to England. Through Dallas' scouting network, Morrow has already narrowed down his list of targets. The purpose of the scouting mission was to take the next step with his predetermined targets.

In the past, Dallas has had impact European players such as Irish winger Ronnie O'Brien and Finnish defensive midfielder Simo Valakari.

Poland manager Leo Beenhakker is urging Maciej Zurawski to leave Celtic and head to the Los Angeles Galaxy. "I think if Maciej were to accept a move to America, he'd find it a good level," he asserted. "The MLS is a good, developing league and Galaxy are a good side with some excellent individuals."

Fresh off back-to-back MLS titles, Houston has rewarded the architect, head coach Dominic Kinnear, with an extension through 2010. "His success with the team over the past two years speaks for itself," said club president Oliver Luck told the Houston Chronicle. "We are delighted that Kinnear is under contract for the next three years."

......

New Red Bulls head coach Juan Carlos Osorio wasted no time in addressing the team's needs for 2008. At his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Osorio said, "In a nutshell, just by looking at the stats, you can see that we can score goals and have very good strikers in Juan (Pablo Angel) and Jozy (Altidore). Defensively we have to improve. A lot of goals were allowed (in 2007), so that is a department we need to improve the most."
