With Eddie Johnson poised to join English Premiership club Fulham on a record setting transfer, the Wizards are in the midst of making several key moves. Kansas City has traded up for the top pick in the draft, using veteran defender Nick Garcia as makeweight. To cover for the loss of Johnson KC will bring Iván Trujillo on loan from Deportivo Cali.

In another move by Peter Vermes and Curt Onalfo, the Wizards have shipped left back Jose Burciaga Jr. to Colorado for a 2009 second round pick. With these moves, the Wizards will open up well over $500,000 in cap space.

Media reports out of Israel are linking MLS All Star defender Jonathan Bornstein with a move to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Israeli club is under new ownership with deep pockets and is looking to bring in players with Israeli ties as domestic based players head for leagues in continental Europe. Of course, Bornstein is just coming off ankle surgery, which will keep him out until February.

Just days after declining to sell Taylor Twellman to Preston North End, the New England Revolution have decided not to pick up the option for 2008 on Pat Noonan. "This is a great opportunity to try to go overseas," Noonan told the Boston Globe from US National Team training camp in Carson, California. "Hopefully, this camp will continue to go well and I'll move on from there."

The Glenn Davis Radio Show is reporting that Houston Dynamo forward Nate Jaqua is looking into overseas opportunities. Last year, Jaqua had some trials in Europe, but ultimately decided to return to MLS.

In a radio interview on Tuesday, Real Salt Lake general manager Garth Lagerway said that the club is finalizing a contract for American defender Ian Joy, who has spent the majority of his career playing in Germany, including recently at FC St. Pauli. Joy did have a stint with Columbus in 2003.

The club is also poised to sign Argentina midfielder Matias Cordoba who helped lead Argentine club Tigre to their best league finish in club history.

Juan Carlos Osorio is looking in South America to add an attacking player. His latest target is 22-year old Colombia forward Luis Carlos Cabezas. Osorio said in an interview with BigAppleSoccer, "He has great potential. He has done very well. I haven't made my decision yet."

FC Dallas coach Steve Morrow has admitted to holding talks with Racing Club over former Argentina star forward Claudio Lopez.
