In this week's peek around the league: Troy Perkins looks like heading to Norway, FC Dallas tries to keep Denílson on the cheap and the Revs go bargain hunting in Argentina.

The New York Red Bulls search for a new coach is over. The Chicago Fire have confirmed that Juan Carlos Osorio is headed from Chicago to New York to take the same position with the Red Bulls.

Osorio, who had previously been a MetroStars assistant coach in 2000, has family in New York, which was a key factor in his decision to leave the Fire. The Red Bulls will owe Chicago compensation, which is expected to include New York's 2008 SuperDraft first round selection and allocation money.

FC Dallas has opted to not renew Denílson as its designated player. Hoops Head Coach Steve Morrow told MLSNet, "We didn't pick up his option because we thought his salary was too high for next year. (Bringing him back at a lower salary) is certainly an option for us."

"We explained that to him. He wants to stay here, loves it here and the team... but we're not very far down the road on that. If that's going to happen, it could take a little while to figure out."

The Washington Post is reporting DC United has traded 2006 MLS Defender of the Year Bobby Boswell to the Houston Dynamo for Zach Wells and a draft pick. United have been interested in a goalkeeper since Troy Perkins fell into the transfer sights of Norwegian club Vålerenga.

With the completion of this trade, the Supporters Shield Winners are expected to agree to a transfer fee for the sale of Perkins. The trade will allow Wells to earn a starting job after previously backing up Canadian goalkeeper Pat Onstad in Houston.

On Tuesday, United were pursuing a three-team deal with FC Dallas and the Galaxy which would have seen Carlos Ruiz return to Los Angeles, Joe Cannon move to the nation's capital and Bobby Boswell head to the Lone Star State, but the trade was nixed.

The United States Under-23 Team will be a little shorthanded during two games in China over the next week. New England's Adam Cristman (hamstring strain) and Real Salt Lake defender Nathan Sturgis (calf muscle strain) will not participate for the US and did not make the flight over with the rest of Peter Nowak's squad to China.

To boot, Hannover 96 winger Sal Zizzo has picked up an ankle knock in the Orient and his availability for the friendlies is in question.

The battle to become MLS' 16th franchise appears to be down to two cities: Philadelphia and St. Louis. An upcoming vote by Pennsylvania officials could be the last stumbling block for the area to become home to a franchise. Officials will vote on whether $45 million will dedicated to the building of a stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania to be home to a MLS team. The rest of the money would be generated from local and private funding. A selection is expected to be made by MLS by the end of January.

The New England Revolution are looking to South America to add to their Eastern Conference championship winning side. Although the continent's best players are out of the Revolution's price range, assistant coach Paul Mariner told the Boston Globe there are still players that the Revolution could acquire. "It's all about the right player, the right situation, the right time in his contract," he explained. "We've come back with a list of players we like and ones we think would make the team better, and they are ones we realistically think we can get."
