Chelsea midfield hawk Claude Makelele is the latest Euro-star to express in interest trying his hand at MLS life. The France ace told Telefoot that he is unconcerned about being left out of Les Bleus and considering the move to America, despite having a year left on his Stamford Bridge deal. Elsewhere, the league may receive help in luring PSV Eindhoven captain Philip Cocu, who is pondering his next move and has publicly stated in the past that America is an option. Impatient suitors Sydney FC could soon turn their attentions to Australia striker John Aloisi, a transaction that would financially put them out of the running for the vacationing Dutchman's services.
Up north, Trinidad & Tobago midfielder Chris Birchall could be a Toronto FC target when his Queens Park Rangers deal runs out next month. The World Cup 2006 standout took in a game and trained with the team last week.
Chivas USA skipper Claudio Suárez has admitted to MLSNet contributor Luis Bueno that he is pondering retirement at season's end. The former Mexico star - the second most capped male international player in FIFA history with 178 - conceded that his body was starting to feel every one of his 38 years, but revealed his interest in a coaching career.
Speaking of RSL and keepers, Kasey Keller informed ASD pal Andrea Canales' Sideline Views blog that the club have yet to enter his ballpark with their contract tender. The stalwart USMNT keeper divulged that he recently turned down much better offers in Europe. ......
