In our MLS Cup week peek around the league: the Dynamo may not have a Ching in their armory, Bobby Boswell gets duped and Drew Carey strikes up the band in Seattle.

......

Houston's hope to repeat as MLS Cup champions look a bit slimmer with the possibility of forward Brian Ching missing Sunday's match. The US international went down in the second half of the Western Conference final against Kansas City with an apparent leg injury.

Ching, who has been battling nagging injuries throughout the season, told the Houston Chronicle that missing the finals would be 'pretty crushing'. If Ching is out, expect Joseph Ngwenya to get the start at RFK Stadium.

The New York Red Bulls stadium project appears to have hit another snag. Soccer by Ives reported earlier this week that design and legal issues will delay the stadium project until the end of 2009, and possibly until the 2010 season. The new design is expected to no longer have a stage for concerts and will likely include a roof covering all of the seating inside the stadium.

It is unclear if Phil Anschutz led company AEG will play a role in the construction. Red Bull has been rumored to be in the process of buying out AEG's stake in the stadium, but at this point no agreement has been reached.

On his website, DC United midfielder Bobby Boswell discussed an incident that occurred at the club's recent Meet the Team event. Boswell explains that a New York fan tricked him into taking a photograph with a shirt that pictured DC United in a derogatory way. He writes: "I thought it was important to tell you what happened."

Seattle will join MLS as its 15th franchise for the 2009 season. Minority owner and entertainer Drew Carey has big plans, including allowing fans to own a small share of the club where they will have voting rights. One other vision Carey has is for Seattle to be the first professional sports team in the United States to have a full marching band.

......

Columbus playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto is considering a move back to Argentina. Club elections in December will determine if Schelotto will make a return to Argentina with Gimnasia, who currently stand 17th in the 20-team league.

The playmaker has one season remaining on his Crew deal and was offered a contract extension by Columbus, but Schelotto is currently undecided on a return to the States.

......

Texas businessman Tom Hicks may be looking to continue his investment in professional sports. Already part owner of Liverpool FC, the Dallas Morning News has Hicks denying an Italian report that he is interested in acquiring a majority share of Serie A club AS Roma.

......

Alexi Lalas has admitted that the interest in Landon Donovan is beyond San Jose, and if Coach Ruud Gullit wants to head in a different direction, Donovan could be on his way out. The Spanish language website Terra, quoted Lalas with the following: "It's not only San Jose that's interested in him. There are other teams interested in Donovan. If he wants to leave, then we can talk. If our coach [Gullit] decides he should leave, then he definitely has to go. Here, no one is permanent."

One player Lalas is interested is AC Milan forward Ronaldo. The Galaxy GM wants to bring in someone of the same "caliber" as David Beckham.
