In our weekly snoop around the league: Ivan Gazidis rejects Citeh life, Toronto FC are filing in intriguing trialists one by one and the Red Bulls find a new forward.

The Soccer Insider is reporting that Argentine forward Claudio López and the Kansas City Wizards are in talks. The two-time World Cup player for Argentina has played for Valencia, Lazio, Club América, and currently, Racing Club back at home.

England's Daily Mail claims that MLS #2 Ivan Gazidis has turned down an offer to become the Executive Chairman for Manchester City. The MLS Deputy Commissioner has been with the league since 1994, two years prior to the league's first ever game.

DC United and the Los Angeles Galaxy completed a swap which saw the Galaxy acquire veteran defender Greg Vanney for the second time. In return, DC United received young handyman Quavas Kirk.

"Greg is coming back to our club a stronger and more experienced player, who will be able to play multiple positions in the backline," said Galaxy Director of Soccer Paul Bravo.

AZ Alkmaar veteran attacker Kiki Musampa has had an interest in Major League Soccer for a few months, and now is trialing for the league's only Canadian team. The former Dutch U-21 international is on trial with Toronto FC.

The Canadian club is also looking at former Portugal strike star João Pinto and Colombia playmaker Johnnier Montano. The 25-year old midfielder's claim to fame is being the youngest ever player to appear on his national team, receiving his first cap at only 15 years of age.

Luis Arroyave's bountiful Red Card blog reports that Chicago are not only ready to unveil Poland striker Thomas Frankowski, but are also impressed with the trial trio of former Ajax winger Pius Ikedia, former Fulham and Lyon forward Steve Marlet and former Club América striker Jesus Mendoza.

Real Salt Lake has been shopping down under this week, but may have to wait in line behind Colorado. The Utah-based club is in discussions for Queensland Roar star Reinaldo, according to Australia's Courier Mail.

However, the Rapids hold a discovery claim on the Brazilian and are also interested. The 23-year old forward recently scored a brace for Queensland in an Australian A-League playoff loss to Newcastle.

Meanwhile, James Edwards' Deseret News blog reports that RSL midfielder Kyle Beckerman should have his walking cast removed soon, but probably won't be allowed to begin full training until the squad heads to their Argentina camp in early March.

The New England Revolution are in the midst of acquiring Honduras midfielder Mauricio Castro, who could meet up with the team later this week. Castro is expected to contend with Khano Smith for the left midfielder role in New England's 3-5-2 formation, but can also adapt if Steve Nicol changes his set in preseason.

The Red Bulls bolstered their attack by signing Colombian forward Oscar Etcheverry this week. The forward, expected to be the team's #3 forward behind countryman Juan Pablo Angel and American international Jozy Altidore, sparkled in his preseason debut, scoring a goal and creating the penalty for an Angel score.

Meanwhile, the Daily Herald word is New York coach Juan Carlos Osorio is now looking to offload Liberia striker Francis Doe.
