Real Salt Lake has booked a marquee friendly for Saturday, August 9th, when for the second time, they will host namesake Real Madrid at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The Kansas City Wizards are the latest MLS side to sign a Designated Player in the form of 33-year old forward Claudio Lopez, who signed a one-year contract with an option for a second. The Argentine has played for Lazio and Valencia, as well as in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups with Argentina. Lopez joins Colombian Ivan Trujillo as the second major addition to the attack this offseason for Curt Onalfo's squad.

Brad Guzan's 2008 season will not start on opening weekend as the reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year has suffered a left MCL sprain. The US National Team player is expected to miss at least the first two games of the season and could make his return in the April 12th match at Columbus.

Thirty-year old forward Michael Ricketts is on trial with the Columbus Crew. The English striker has seen time with clubs throughout his homeland with stints at Bolton, Middlesbrough and Oldham. He has also been capped once for England.

The New England Revolution have added 20-year old forward Argenis Fernandez to their squad. The Costa Rican forwarded featured twice for his country at the 2007 Under-20 World Cup in Canada. "Argenis is a dynamic young forward who has the potential to add a new dimension to our team," Revolution Director of Soccer Michael Burns said. "We're looking forward to his arrival with the team and helping him get acclimated to our personnel."

New York Red Bulls midfielder Dane Richards will miss the first three months of the season. The former Clemson Tiger was diagnosed with a torn right MCL after a nasty collision in a recent friendly with sister club Red Bull Salzburg.
