GOATS LEAVE BMO WITH POINTS

Chivas scored two second half goals to maintain their hold on third place in the Western standings, while Toronto moved to within five minutes of the record for scoring futility.

Maykel Galindo scored on a rocket from the left side 12 minutes into the second half and Sacha Kljestan added an insurance goal one minute from time to give the visitors their third road victory of the year.

Most of the first half was uneventful, with TFC creating the majority of chances, though none of them truly tested keeper Brad Guzan.

The best chance of the first half came when Toronto midfielder Andy Welsh finally took it upon himself to create. Dribbling in on the right flank, he sent a left-footed cross in for Andrea Lombardo, who had snuck in behind the offside trap only to see his header land on the side netting.

To begin the second half, Welsh again tried to put his side on the board when he sent a nice cross from deep in the right corner that Guzan was able to handle.

Chivas finally got on the board when Jesse Marsch found Galindo sprinting up the right side. El Diablo caught up to the pass 35 yards from goal and fired a missile from just inside the top left corner of the penalty area past Kenny Stamatopoulos.

Ante Razov saw his free kick slip through wall and ricochet off of Stamatopoulos' right hand upright just three minutes later.

Toronto striker Jeff Cunningham found himself one v one against Jason Hernandez in the 75th minute, but referee Brian Hall allowed the Goat to practically take forward's shirt in defense.

Quickly surrounded by Mendoza and Shavar Thomas, the former Crew man laid off for the onrushing Marvell Wynne, whose shot from 10 yards was stopped point blank by Guzan.

Kljestan scored for the second time this year against Toronto in the 89th minute when Ramón Núñez, in his first game since being shipped from Dallas, sent a cross that the US midfielder poked home to double the Chivas tally.

RED BULLS OUTSLUG LA

The New York Red Bulls did not disappoint the 66,237 fans who turned up at Giants Stadium for an entertaining 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday.

Although former Real Madrid superstar David Beckham was the main attraction, it was ace Juan Pablo Angel who stole the show, grabbing both the opening and winning goals.

Beckham certainly made his mark on the game with two assists before the 10-minute mark, each time hitting Carlos Pavón for the goal - the first from a corner kick and the second from a trademark 35-yard free kick. The England international nearly did it again in the 21st minute with a long free kick serve to Alan Gordon, but Ronald Waterreus made the save.

USA big-shot Landon Donovan could have made it 3-1 with three minutes remaining in the half with a defense-splitting run around a surging Waterreus, but he failed to curl it into the net.

It was Clint Mathis who leveled things for New York in injury time. Jamaican rookie Dane Richards made a fantastic run that included knocking the ball off Beckham's face before taking a shot that ricocheted off a defender to Mathis, who had no problems pounding a volley into the back of the net.

The second half started with a bang when Mathis teamed up with Jozy Altidore, who managed to get in behind the Galaxy backline and put in a cool finish. His second goal 21 minutes later, thanks to some beautiful dance moves around a pair of defenders, sent the crowd into a frenzy.

LA weren't quite ready to give up, however, and goals from Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle put the teams back on level terms.

Joe Cannon made some top notch saves and was nearly able to keep out Angel's winner, but instead it fell over the line off his arm.

The affair marked the 10th time in MLS history that at least nine goals were scored - five of which have now involved New York.

CREW SUFFER UNITED BRAZILIANS
DC United inched closer to the top spot in the Eastern Conference with their 2-0 win over Columbus at Crew Stadium on Saturday.  They now trail New England by three points, and are ahead of New York on goal differential.

The first half was a bit of a snoozer, with the teams sharing only seven shots in those 45 minutes. Columbus did have an early opening when Alejandro Moreno sent in a slow-moving ball that trailed through the six-yard box, but no one was on the other end.

The action remained slow until Brazilian Fred buried a deflected Christian Gomez shot to put United ahead seven minutes after the interval.

The visitors doubled their lead 11 minutes later on a defensive mistake by Ezra Hendrickson. The Crew man collected an errant Fred pass, but turned the wrong way directly into an alert Luciano Emilio, who made no mistake in stealing the ball and netting it.

Columbus gained some steam in the final third of the game, but with DC piling 10 men behind the ball, their efforts had very little effect.

Scoring
DC - Fred 3 52'
DC - Luciano Emilio 14 63'

Line-ups
DC - Troy Perkins; Bryan Namoff, Devon McTavish, Greg Vanney, Marc Burch, Fred, Christian Gomez (Brian Carroll 76'), Clyde Simms, Joshua Gros (Domenic Mediate 9'), Jaime Moreno (Rod Dyachenko 86'), Luciano Emilio

BLANCO PACES FIRE WIN
The Chicago Fire extended their unbeaten streak to three with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake at Rice-Eccles stadium on Saturday night.

It was the Fire's million dollar man, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, that made the difference, earning a goal and assist on the night. It's no coincidence that the Fire's form arrived at the same time as the Mexico star.

The former Club America man's opener was a thing of beauty as he took the pass from Ivan Guerrero, settled the ball and then struck it on the bounce into the right corner of the net - a diving Nick Rimando had no chance.

Chicago doubled their lead midway through the second half when Paulo Wanchope headed a Blanco corner kick past Rimando.

Real were unable to get back into the game and it ended with Chicago claiming all three points.

Scoring
CHI - Cuauhtémoc Blanco 1 (Ivan Guerrero) 43'
CHI - Paulo Wanchope 1 (Cuauhtémoc Blanco) 78'

Line-ups
CHI - Matt Pickens; Dasan Robinson, C.J. Brown, Gonzalo Segares, Logan Pause, Chris Armas, Bakary Soumare, Ivan Guerrero, Chris Rolfe (Justin Mapp 68'), Cuauhtémoc Blanco (Calen Carr 81'), Paulo Wanchope (Chad Barrett 84')

RSL - Nick Rimando; Jean-Martial Kipre (Chris Brown 78'), Ritchie Kotschau, Eddie Pope, Chris Wingert, Kyle Beckerman, Nathan Sturgis (Atiba Harris 33'), Carey Talley, Andy Williams, Robbie Findley, Alecko Eskandarian (Fabian Espindola 58')
