United fans continue to be unhappy after another bad pay-off from their last place team. On the other side, the Fire have hit their best start in franchise history at 5-1-1 and jumped one point ahead of Columbus Crew as Eastern Conference leaders.

Chicago had few troubles to gain the three points. An unmarked Justin Mapp opened the score in the 39th minute picking up a header assist from Chad Barrett to beat United keeper Zach Wells.

Mexico superstar Cuauhtémoc Blanco doubled in the 62nd minute. After United lost a ball in midfield, Blanco beat Wells with a shot from outside the box, and the goal virtually ended the game.

Helped by the absence of injured Argentinean midfielder Marcelo Gallardo, Devon McTavish and Brazilian star Fred, Fire netminder Jon Busch only needed two saves for the shutout.

DC, 2-5-0, have now lost four of its last five matches. They will try to rebound next week against Chivas USA, while Chicago will face two-time defending MLS champions Houston.
