Fresh from signing US Under-20 international Bryan Arguez away from DC United, Hertha Berlin hope to soon add another American to their ranks in the person of University of Washington striker Ellis McLoughlin.

The 17-year old is currently with the Bundesliga outfit's second team at their winter training camp in Turkey and made a late cameo in Tuesday's friendly action.

Though he would not be able to sign a professional deal until turning 18 in July due to FIFA overseas transfer regulations, McLoughlin greatly impressed Hertha boss Lucien Favre during a December trial and now holds an offer from the club in hand.

"They are waiting for an answer," Blue-Whites press officer Robert Burkhardt told American Soccer Daily. "He has not signed a contract yet, but he is probably going to play with us. He convinced the pro coach."

Hertha are hoping to keep McLoughlin busy with training and German lessons until he is of age to sign a first team deal, much in the manner that Hamburg used to land US youth international Preston Zimmerman when he was 17.
