Lewis Not Plotting Escape

Barring a quick deal, Leeds United wing ace Eddie Lewis looks set to re-join his teammates on July 2nd for their 2007/08 League One preseason camp.

Although he would like to return to MLS when his Elland Road pact expires next summer and stateside teams have recently made enquiries, the 33-year old attacker isn't likely to make an early comeback.

However, a number of Championship sides could still hand Lewis a lifeline from relegation with Leeds, with longtime admirers Wolverhampton the most visible chaser.

"At this point, he's going back to Leeds," said Lewis' agent, Lyle Yorks. "He wants to play in MLS again, but right now doesn't seem to be the right time."

"Some MLS clubs contacted him, and there's been a lot of interest around England. As of now, he is with Leeds, and will be unless something happens in the next 2-3 weeks."

Last season, Lewis notched three goals and five assists while spending much of the season out of position at left back to be named Leeds fans' Player of the Year.
