The beleaguered League One team, still reeling from a stinging 15-point handicap on top of their ongoing financial woes, have announced that a fee has been agreed with the Rams for the 33-year old's services.

"There have been negotiations, but we are still waiting for our chief executive to confirm," Derby press officer Matt Reeder told American Soccer Daily. "The player has taken a medical, but he has not signed."

California-born Lewis, who scored nine goals in 96 appearances for Leeds since joining them from Preston in 2005 and won the last of his 72 National Team caps at World Cup 2006, could team up with his fellow American in a Derby jersey as early as Saturday.

Feilhaber's international clearance has now been received, and the former Hamburg midfielder is in the frame for this Saturday's clash at cellar dwellers Tottenham.

"He is eligible to play on Saturday, and has been training with the team," Reeder confirmed. "The manager has been impressed with his level of fitness and his enthusiasm."

The Rams sit 14th in the Premier League standings after two games, a 2-2 tie at home to Portsmouth and a 1-0 reverse at Manchester City.
