As has quickly become customary, American target man Nate Jaqua led the Cashpoint line for the full 90 minutes.

The opening period was a progressively rougher stretch of play with few real scoring chances. Altach keeper Mario Krassnitzer stifled the best opportunity of the half when he denied Adi Sobrinho at the end of a flicked-on corner kick in the 27th minute.

Shortly after halftime, Jaqua beat his marker to an Oliver Mattle cross, but narrowly missed the target with his header.

At the hour, the home side punished that bit of wastefulness with an opening salvo. Christoph Saurer teed up Michael Baur from a restart and the former Austria international put Linz ahead.

Saurer added on from a Mario Mijatovic feed 12 minutes later and the Croatian completed the margin in stoppage time thanks to an assist from skipper Ivica Vastic.

Altach will return home to welcome SV Mattersburg on Saturday.
