"I am very excited to be headed to Walsall," said the former Providence College goalkeeper.

"I am very thankful for this opportunity and look forward to three weeks of hard work. I feel I am in very good form and hope to make a good impression with manager Richard Money. They are a very good club with a good football history."

This is the third trial for Konopka in the past twelve months. Previously, the Toms River, NJ native had trial stints with Championship clubs Cardiff City and Charlton. Both teams liked Konopka, but lack of a European passport at the time prevented him from signing.

"I am exploring all options available to me, even returning to the MLS, and will not rule out anything, but Walsall will get my undivided attention over the next few weeks," said Konopka.

"I have also signed all the official Polish government documents and believe it is only now a matter of time before we hear something about my Polish citizenship."

Other clubs interested in the netminder are IFK Göteborg and Örebro in Sweden and Poland's Legia Warsaw, but plans for trials have yet to be made.
