With Antti Niemi out and stand-in keeper Tony Warner playing up a mixed bag of great saves and blunders, Fulham have added the US Soccer 2005 Honda Player of the Year to the ranks for the remainder of the season.

Keller was available on a free transfer after running out is contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he spent a two-and-half year spell in the Bundesliga. The club was relegated after the 2006/07 season, and forced to make plans for life without the big American.

The former Portland Timber shot-stopper has English Premier League experience, having previously been on the books at Fulham's North London rivals Tottenham before eventually having the #1 shirt usurped by England keeper Paul Robinson.

"I know that Fulham already has two quality goalkeepers," Keller told the club's official website, "But I would like to think that I can add something to the squad in terms of its options. I am really enthusiastic about this new challenge."

"It's fantastic to be back in the Premiership after a couple of year's absence, and when the opportunity to join Fulham came up, it was an exciting proposition that didn't take too much consideration."

Fulham travel to Birmingham for a clash with Aston Villa on Saturday. With the fitness of Niemi still uncertain, Keller could be in contention if his paperwork is processed in time.
