Hammarby lost 1-0 to Kalmar FF in heartbreaking conditions on Sunday night as they conceded in the 93rd minute when down to 10 men.

US striker Charlie Davies went the distance and nearly scored on a spectacular bicycle kick.

Kalmar controlled the game in the opening stages and Brazilian forward Cesar Santin had two quality chances to grab the lead, but he couldn't convert.

Bajen failed to create any penetration, and their chances in the first half were limited to two Petter Andersson long distance shots that Petter Wastå was able to punch away from danger.

Hammarby tried to pick up the tempo in the second half, but had some horrific luck with injuries. First, Mikkel Jensen limped off after taking a knock in the ankle. His replacement, Louay Chanko, lasted only eight minutes before he too was forced off.

As if that wasn't enough, Claudio Dadomo was ejected for his second red after a late tackle on Santin.

In between all the injuries and cards, Davies had Hammarby's best chance of the night when he bicycle kicked a mis-hit Paulinho Guará shot that Wastå was able to parry to safety.

Hammarby continued to fight and looked set to escape with a point, but Patrik Ingelsten popped up in the box to meet a late Patrik Rosengren cross, and the visitors were left to rue yet more points dropped at the final whistle.
