The New England Revolution have locked up a pair of veterans ahead of the postseason, inking midfielder Shalrie Joseph and defender Jay Heaps to new deals.

Length and terms of the new contracts were not divulged, but Grenada international Joseph was almost certainly rewarded with a big raise over the $150,000 he was set to make in the final year of his previous pact. The 29-year old was the subject if a $1 million transfer bid by Scottish giants Celtic last winter and would likely have received more attention this time around.

"We're very pleased to have both Shalrie and Jay with us for the long term," Revs Director of Soccer Mike Burns told the club website. "Both players have been key components of our recent success, and carry that on the field, in the locker room and in the community."

Joseph, a four-time All-Star, has started 133 of his 134 games since the Revs made him the 14th overall pick in the 2002 SuperDraft. The 31-year old Heaps has eight goals and 27 assists in 187 matches since arriving from the Miami Fusion in 2001.
