Wolverhampton outcast Jemal Johnson has signed for the Milton Keynes Dons on the final day of England's August transfer window.

The New Jersey-born striker has signed a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee after 20 appearances and three goals for Wolves, whom he joined a year ago after spells with Blackburn, Darlington and Preston.

The 22-year old, who began in Manchester United's youth academy and played five games on loan at Leeds last season, now drops two divisions from Wolves, third in the Championship, to a team 10th in League Two, making him the lowest-placed American in English professional soccer.

Johnson is the third American to move in England this month, after Eddie Lewis (Derby) and Eric Lichaj (Aston Villa).

No more transfers are permitted in England until January, unless a player is out of contract, on loan to a Football League club or on an approved emergency basis.
