Aalborg BK's European adventure came to a close with a convincing 3-1 win against Hapoel Tel-Aviv, who despite the chance of advancement, delivered an uninspired performance in front of a small home crowd at Bloomfield Stadium.

Captain Danny Califf played his usual 90 in central defense, but with Faroe Islands international Jón Rói Jacobsen as his partner instead of Michael Jakobsen, who replaced Martin Pedersen at left back.

The early attempts came from the home side. Fabio Junior hit the crossbar after five minutes and Bebars Natcho sent a shot wide shortly after, but AaB soon took control of the game and Jeppe Curth forced Vincent Enyeama to make a brilliant save in the 17th.

Ten minutes later, Cacá served a nice ball for a wide open Kasper Risgård to score the opener. Seemingly warranted Israeli appeals for offside went unheard by Dutch referee Jan Wegereef.

Much in the same way, offside claims at the other end of the field were ignored when Fabio Junior suddenly came one-on-one with Karim Zaza, who could do nothing to stop the Brazilian from equalizing seconds before the halftime whistle.

The Israelis had reason to be optimistic heading into the break, but only three minutes into the second half, Mzova Nsumbu brought down Curth in the area and the referee awarded the penalty, which was coolly executed by Jakobsen.

The Danes owned the rest of the game and it was no surprise when Risgård found an open Thomas Enevoldsen, who removed all doubt from close range.

The result does not change the fact that AaB are eliminated from the tournament, but they leave in style after the top European performance in the club's history, having knocked out Italian side Sampdoria and forced Tottenham Hotspur to find their A-game along the way.
