▪ ASD Match Report: Brazil Tops US

Everton netminder Tim Howard is in doubt for their weekend duel with old club Manchester United on Saturday after suffering a dislocated ring finger on his left hand during Sunday's US National Team loss to Brazil in Chicago.

The 28-year old caught the crossbar the wrong way trying to stop Lucio's early second half goal and needed the trainer to pop his joint back into place on the field. Though immediately uncertain whether he could continue, the New jersey native ended up being able to finish the match.

"It was pretty sore," Howard told reporters after the game. "I wasn't sure if I could catch a ball. I just tried to play through it, and hopefully the adrenaline was gonna get me through it."

Howard, who will report to Goodison Park on Monday night for a look from the club's medical staff, is crossing his healthy fingers against missing the weekend Premiership contest with the Red Devils.

"I'm hoping not," he stated. "You know how it is when you travel with injuries. Right now, it's swollen like a balloon, and I'm hoping that the flight doesn't take too much out of it. I'll see the doctors when I get back."

Howard has allowed one goal per game thus far in 2007/08, backstopping the Toffees level on points with first place Liverpool through five matches.
