Charlie Davies broke his goal scoring duck in the best fashion possible by exploding for a hat trick as Hammarby crushed visiting GAIS 4-0 on Sunday afternoon to close the Allsvenskan season.

Davies' offensive breakout came as a wide midfielder as coach Tony Gustavsson continued a recent strategy employed in reserve matches, looking for another role for the snake bitten striker.

The yank ended his season long drought just before halftime when he raced onto a lofted pass over the GAIS defense and calmly side-footed into the right corner of the net. The joy on Davies' face was obvious as he wheeled away in celebration and was booked for his display as the ecstatic Bajen supporters chanted his name.

The American has certainly had a frustrating debut season, but has enjoyed the constant support of Hammarby fans, and he continued to repay their faith when he struck his second in the 62nd minute.

Petter Andersson slid a well weighted through pass behind the GAIS backline. Davies showed great speed to outpace the defense and took one touch before sliding a left-footed shot between the legs of Dime Jankulovski. No booking marked his celebration this time as the #10 shirt belly dove towards the substitutes bench.

In the 75th minute, Davies displayed exactly what the Swedish expression "ketchup effect" means - when it starts coming out, it all comes out - as he rounded out his perfect night by smashing an opportunistic right-footed volley past a helpless Jankulovski after he had positioned himself well to take advantage of a deflection in the penalty box.

The entire Söderstadion exploded with the goal as it appeared the fans could hardly believe what they were seeing after their long wait for their much-hyped summer signing.

Sebastian Castro-Tello rounded out the scoring for a dominant Hammarby, who finished the season in a respectable sixth place, 13 points behind league champions IFK Göteborg. The finish means Hammarby will enjoy an extended break as their position does not qualify them for Royal League play during the winter break.
