Charlie Davies started his fifth game in as many matches as Hammarby won their second away game of the season 2-1 over Henrik Larsson's Helsingborg.

Davies didn't threaten to score, though he continued his provider role and was again close to picking up an assist.

Hammarby got off to a dream start when midfielder Haris Laitinen intercepted an errant pass and picked out teammate Paulinho Guará, who drilled home a right-footed shot frim inside the box after only three minutes.

Helsingborg appeared to equalized in the 19th minute through Sweden legend Larsson, but his goal was called back by the offside flag.

Hammarby extended their lead shortly thereafter when Petter Andersson blasted home a rocket from 25 yards, with Laitinen again the supplier.

The hosts continued to press, but Hammarby went close to extending their lead further when Davies worked his way free on the flank and crossed to Paulinho at the far post, but the Brazilian's header bounced off the post.

Helsingborg finally reduced the lead before the halftime whistle when Larsson crossed perfectly for Razak Omotoyossi to head home.

The second half was a story of missed chances for Helsingborg. Larsson himself had another goal called back for offside and missed a penalty that Kristoffer Björklund managed to get a hand to.

Davies was removed in the 58th minute as Hammarby shored up their defense by bringing on midfielder Mikkel Jensen, and while Helsingborg pressed all through the second half, Hammarby emerged the victors.

Hammarby play away to Kalmar FF on Sunday.
