While Real Salt Lake are rumored to be interested in acquiring the services of a Germany-based American, TuS Koblenz defender Josh Grenier is ruling himself out of the running, but not for a lack of intrigue or desire.

The American stopper has played in seven of 17 games this season, helping Koblenz to a ninth place standing at the halfway point of the season.

"I can honestly say I have not heard from Real Salt Lake about a possible move to the MLS after my contract runs out" Grenier divulged to American Soccer Daily. "That being said, I would be lying to say the rumor didn't pique my interest."

"The thought of playing MLS next season has me very interested. MLS is really improving and who wouldn't want to go home to play in front of family and friends after spending as much time as I have in top soccer in Europe."

The New Hampshire native has put in a storied shift for Koblenz, spanning three divisions and more than half a decade.

"I have spent the last six years of my career playing and living for Koblenz," Grenier added. "I have promoted twice with the team and play now, many say, in the best second league in Europe."

With Germany's second flight set to resume play at the start of February, Grenier is geared up to reclaim a role in the starting eleven.

"My main focus now is to get back into the first team and help Koblenz solidify a place in the standings that will guarantee second Bundesliga for next season" he asserted. "Our ownership has made it clear our goal from the start of this season was to not fight relegation, but to establish our team and compete eventually for promotion."

Nevertheless, the coming months will be as much about proving worth as savoring the moment, with the defender's contract due to expire at summer's start.

"When the time comes near the end of the season, I will see what my options are," he noted. "Playing (in the) 2.Bundesliga is an amazing experience, one many American players only dream about."

"I have little doubt the club will be playing at this level next season - which means if they want me back, great."

While the European experience is the stuff of dreams, the thought of playing stateside remains an enticing proposition for the former Clayton State Laker. But at the moment, it's one that Grenier is leaving to fate.

"We'll let the chips fall where they may at the end of the season," concluded Grenier. "If anyone from MLS has an interest, I would be all ears."
