Cory Gibbs has tipped former coach Ruud Gullit to be a hit at LA Galaxy, who opened their 2008 MLS season with a 4-0 loss at Colorado on Saturday.

The Charlton defender played under the Dutch legend at Feyenoord in 2004/05 and believes Gullit has what it takes to bring success to the Home Depot Center.

"Gullit was a great manager and a great person," Gibbs told American Soccer Daily. "He is a real people's person, a real player's coach and I think he will do well with that team."

The Dutchman has yet to make it to the end of a second season in charge of a club, having coached Chelsea, Feyenoord and Newcastle United since retiring as a player. The former AC Milan and Netherlands legend penned a three-year deal with LA Galaxy last November.

"It is somewhere he really wants to be," said Gibbs. "He loves America and he'll fit well into LA. Beckham will help him out a lot, so it should be good for him."

Gullit makes his Home Depot Center MLS debut on Thursday when the San Jose Earthquakes make the trip south to play their California rivals.
